Do You Have What it Takes To Work in a Call Centre?

Job Vacancy Indonesia, Employee, Vacancy

Working in a call centre might seem like an easy job at first glance. It's just about answering phones, right? Wrong. There are many different jobs in call centres. There are Customer Service Reps (CSRs), Technical Service Reps (TSRs), Supervisors, Managers, and Human Resources staff, and many others who work to ensure a call centre, the customer's first line of contact with a company, works as a well-oiled machine.
So what does it take to work in a call centre? Though for this article we'll focus on CSRs, many of these skills are critical in other call centre jobs too.

Ability To Work in a Fast-Paced Environment:
In a call centre, it's all about speed. If you are working in an inbound call centre (meaning call come in to your call centre, as opposed to CSRs making calls) the main focus is how fast can a rep answer a phone. How quickly can they solve a customer's issue? Call times and wait times are how a centre calculates its efficiency, and therefore, it's costs and profits. But call times and wait times aren't just important for the company, they are also important to the customer. That's why it's critical to be able to work under pressure.

Accuracy and Attention to Detail:
The customer is calling you because they have a problem. You must be able to answer their inquiry quickly and correctly so their faith and trust in your company is upheld. It's important to the company you work for that their customers aren't frustrated. These customers are the backbone of your company, and they need to have faith that their call is being handled professionally and correctly and that they will get the same correct answer if they call next time. Accurate consistency is critical. And for that, you need to be the type of person who can learn and retain information.

Ability to Learn New Skills:
Products and services change constantly. And though the basics will remain the same, you need to be on top of new things. The last thing a customer wants to do is be calling you for answers and you don't know what they're talking about. You also have to be willing to learn computer programs or software unique to your call centre. Call centres have a lot of processes and you must be able to learn how those work so you can work more efficiently, and better serve customers.
Learning new skills such as another language can also help your job prospects in a call centre. Many list the ability to speak a second language as an asset.

Ability to Deal with Difficult People:
More often than not, customers will call because they have a problem and they want you to fix it right away. If you cannot show empathy, and support them in their frustrations, they will get increasingly upset. You must be able to deal with difficult people and know how to handle and diffuse them. Consider taking a course on the subject. You'll learn how to improve your listening skills, and learn little tricks as simple as repeating back what you hear from your customer. This helps them feel listened to, understood, and in the end, it helps them feel better. The more ability you have in dealing with difficult people, the better you will feel also.

Flexibility:
Though a call centre can be a great 9-5 job, most of them require you to work some shift work. And this or may not fit your schedule. When you decide to apply for a job at a call centre, make sure you know what you are able to do in terms of shift work. If you have dependents, you will need to make alternate care arrangements. Remember too that changing shifts can affect your sleep patterns and your activities outside work hours.
The nature of call centres can also mean that you can be called in at the last minute. You might also be sent home if there is not enough work. If this is a concern for you, ask how often this happens when you are considering a job in a call centre.
Working in a call centre as a CSR can be a satifying job. Often, opportunities to move up to a team leader or scheduler can be had with the work experience you gain starting at the bottom. If you have the right skills and the desire to improve them, a career as a CSR might well be worth investigating.

3 Reasons to Proofread Your Resume First and 3 Specific Things to Look For

By Adnan Masood

Job Vacancy Indonesia, Employee, Vacancy

Are you looking for a new job? If so, you should be ready to embark on an online job search. When it comes to doing so, it is first recommended that you get your resume in order; write it, have it proofread, and be ready to send it immediately via the internet. As for that proofreading, here are some helpful tips for you.
Here are the three reasons why you should proofread your resume before using that resume to apply for jobs online.
Reason #1 - It doesn't take long to proofread or review a resume at all! While you are encouraged to actually read your resume and not skim or browse it, we are possibly talking about 15 minutes worth of your time. Considering what this well-written document can do for your job search, consider it well worth it!
Reason #2 - You might later realize that what you wrote down doesn't make sense at all. It is no secret that most of us get in a writing groove; we start, get on a roll, and don't stop until we are done. This is good, but if you wrote your resume this way you might later go back and realize that you didn't clearly explain a task you performed at your last job and so forth. This can have an impact on your job search.
Reason #3 - This has been mentioned before, but a good and well-written resume can have a huge impact on your job search success. For example, say you apply for a job as an office manager or secretary; some of your job tasks are going to include typing. If your resume is filled with typos and errors, you aren't going to look like an ideal candidate for the job as you might be unable to perform the most important task.
Here are three things you should look for when you proofread your resume.
Look For #1 - You should always proofread your resume and look for typos, spelling errors, and grammar errors. Two good ways to do this include typing your document in Microsoft Word, as you can benefit from the spell check. However, even Word's spelling and grammar checkers aren't 100% accurate, so you should also print off your resume and read a copy (put yourself in the shoes of the person reviewing that resume).
Look For #2 - When proofreading your resume, it is important to ask yourself "is anything missing?" In this aspect, you want to first ensure you have the basic information, which includes your job history, education, training, and so forth. Then, focus on each job; did you thoroughly describe your job duties? If you realize you left off anything important, now is the time to ad it.
Look For #3 - As previously stated, it is important to ensure that your resume makes sense. When proofreading this document, don't look at it as being yours. Instead, put yourself in the place of the hiring manager. Do the slang work terms or abbreviations you used make sense? Can you get a good picture from each job description or is more or less detail required?
So there you have it, you got some great free tips on proofreading your resume. Remember, once you have a well-written and proofread resume, you are ready to start your job search. Get out there and apply for jobs!

By Art Lovell

Job Vacancy Indonesia, Employee, Vacancy

This article will discuss the pros and cons of the traditional strategy of recruiting from your warm market or targeted cold market as a network marketer. You will not be seen as a stranger salesman and this can be extremely effective in piquing people's interest. Another benefit of recruiting warm market is that you may get an easy referral due to your existing relationship. You friend or coworker may not be interested in joining your business, but they may refer you to their associates who are. Lastly, a major benefit of recruiting warm market you have the benefit of your potential business partners being local which makes it easier to invite to local hotel or home presentations.
Benefits of Recruiting From a Targeted Cold Market

They are more leads due to a bigger market, the ability to target leads interested in your business, and starting the recruiting process from a position of authority. However, network marketing will always will be a relationship business and you should work hard on establishing relationships with potential business partners online and offline.

Top 5 Leadership Skills - Do You Have Them?

By Tim I Millett

Job Vacancy Indonesia, Employee, Vacancy

Do you have what it takes to be a leader? Experts in leadership agree that the skills you require to be an effective leader are skills you can develop, but many managers try to get by without them. If you do not have the leadership skills you need, you will find that you have difficulty in motivating your staff members to perform at their best for the good of the team. If you want a highly productive, motivated team, you need to know how lead people. Here are the top five leadership skills that are essential for every leader to have.
  • Time Management If you find yourself continuously running late to every meeting or turning up unprepared, you lack time management skills. Managers have many different claims on their time and you need to know how to juggle a multitude of tasks. Good time management is an essential skill for everyone in a leadership position. You need to be able to keep up with the day to day business tasks, while finding time to plan, prepare for meetings, and motivate your staff members. If you find that you never seem to have time to plan and only work in a reactive instead of a proactive way, you definitely need to brush up on your time management skills, if you want to be an effective leader.
  • Interpersonal Communication Without the ability to communicate effectively on many different levels, you will face challenges as an effective leader. Many business leaders tend to ignore interpersonal communication skills, until they discover that they can achieve nothing without the support of other people in the business world. You can not get your staff to work productively if you can not communicate effectively with people. Good interpersonal communication has an essential ingredient - it is personal. That means as an effective leader, you need to relate well to people on an individual basis, and use that knowledge to motivate the individuals to give their best performance to the work.
  • Negotiation Negotiation is a far more subtle art than simply getting people to do what you want. Great negotiators know how to create the perception of win-win that enable ongoing relationships to make the next negotiation with that individual or business even easier. Too often, leaders mistakenly believe that the art of negotiation means forcing the other party to accept their terms and conditions, but real negotiation relies on a different perspective and allows both parties the freedom to compromise and discuss the terms and conditions together to ensure a sustainable relationship. This skill will lead to better business relationships within your team and with external parties and is therefore on the top five leadership skills you need to have.
  • Task Matching to Individuals (Delegation) While most people can delegate tasks to someone else, this skill goes far beyond just asking or telling someone else to complete a task. Effective leaders know their staff members well and know what tasks are within their capabilities and skill sets. Matching tasks to individuals to get the best out of each individual is essential for effective leadership. Without the ability to understand the intricacies of delegation, you may find that you neglect to develop your team.
  • Team Building Skills Without your team, you are not a leader. Effective leaders know how to get individuals working together to form a team, not just a group of people who happen to share the same work space. A good team will produce more work of a higher quality than individuals working alone, so team building skills are essential for the team leader. Avoiding arguments and personality conflicts to create an effective team is not always easy, but a good leader can recognize the signs of impending disaster to take early action when needed.
So, what happens if you find that you need to work on some of these leadership skills? You can develop these skills and practice them daily in your work life to become a better leader. Leaders who can acknowledge areas where they themselves need to learn and improve are more likely to be able to mentor and encourage staff members to undertake personal and career development courses too.
Everyone wins with good leadership. Make sure you have these top five leadership skills to be an effective leader.

For Women, Science Careers Offer Intellectual Freedom and Flexibility

By Linda Lowen

Job Vacancy Indonesia, Employee, Vacancy

I once spent a day shadowing a research scientist and came away with the sense that she saw her work as fun. She taught me that researchers are passionate about their careers. Yet most young girls see science as boring, or work that's too hard to pursue, or devoid of any relevance to their lives. How do you help them to continue the innate love of science and discovery that's in all of us?
When you see the best science being done, it has elements of exploration, fun, and personal involvement; it's about enjoying the challenge. You also satisfy the question of how nature works. It's extremely interesting and endlessly captivating. Scientists often complain that we spend a great deal of time securing grants and funding to do our research, but we've all chosen to do this. There's a degree of autonomy in a research setting, and we forget to convey that it's an extremely rewarding aspect.
Science in academic settings or research institutes is different from trying to solve a problem with a particular end in mind. In a corporate setting, the focus is on problem solving or grappling with questions. The science which isn't goal oriented is very impressive because you have such freedom of choice - Choice in what we do is a huge determinant as to whether or not we enjoy this.
That's something we don't convey to girls - that science can offer intellectual freedom, which is a wonderful thing - and to have access to this type of career is extraordinary.
Why is science seen as boring? Perhaps it's because the teaching of it happens in a very fact-based way. To teach well you have to not only teach the concepts but teach that science is a process of thinking. When science is taught in a problem-solving way, then boys and girls don't get turned off.
Kids pick up completely on what their teachers are thinking. Teachers are so incredibly important and we undervalue them. We must change that, and politically advocate for teachers. I recognize that teachers have a tough life; they're overburdened, and we need to re-examine how we compensate teachers. We should make it one of the top paying jobs and then people would flock to it.
When I was a child, I had a chemistry teacher who came into my school relatively young. She enjoyed what she did and made chemistry so much fun. Because we enjoyed her teaching us, she thrived in her work. It matters to teachers that they feel valued and liked. It's important to understand that how people learn is realistically influenced by the interaction of teachers and students.
In the biological sciences you've observed that women are getting advanced degrees and doing postdoctoral research at the same rates as men, but not getting the top jobs. What are these top jobs, and why are women still excluded from them?
The most desirable positions are in academic institutions where there's a cutting edge research component and lively inquiry. When we look at the pools of applicants, women are very poorly represented. Students say that it looks too hard and too daunting. There's underrepresentation and women are concerned about family issues and there's no real support for this. The good news is that we're aware of what's happening, and intuitions are trying to correct the issues that are turning away really talented women scientists in this career. It's not that women can't do this work; something is putting them off, and it's a combination of things not unique to the sciences.
There are sometimes cumulative negative cues - subtle signals that women receive - that are not huge by themselves but add up to a discouraging picture of the profession that they want to go into. They see it as hostile to family life - that they will be taken as not serious about their profession. We all recognize this and work hard not to create a negative environment.
